He's Old; Our Time With Him May Be Short
I went to our local shelter, and saw out of the corner of my eye this quiet Ol' Guy on a blanket. When someone passed by, he would stand and wag his tail. But because of his dull coat and age, people passed without even a "good boy."
But my soft heart gave in

Shelters have a limited budget, from which they pay for facilities, staff, food, and medicine. Every dog like Dudley forces them to choose how to use that budget. Dudley was abandoned at their door, his collar so tight it had to be cut off, his little body suffering from mange, pneumonia, heartworms, and bone deformity. Every step was painful.
