During the evacuation, families living in the Chernobyl area were told to leave their pets, and that they'd be allowed to come back. That was not the case. Today, although most people think of it as a nuclear wasteland, there is life - trees, wildlife, and the descendants of those families' dogs and cats, who live there still.
