Unbelievable Number Of Captive Tigers In The U.S.
There are an estimated 5,000 tigers kept in captivity in the U.S. alone - and most aren't in zoos or sanctuaries. These tigers are kept in backyards, houses, and kennels. Many were born to make money: as cubs, they're passed from person to person for expensive photo ops... then they grow up. Others are kept as "pets" or status symbols.
Tigers grow to 600 lbs, eat 60 lbs of meet per week, and need territory. They're desperate for sanctuary. You can help »
