Handmade in Togo by the artisans of Aklala, a fair-trade group that employs women who make beautiful apparel by hand. Aklala provides its seamstresses with ongoing training and materials, a daily lunch, bonuses when there are large orders, and sick pay. Aklala also provides orphaned students with meals and education. In the future, the group hopes to open a facility to educate and empower orphans to one day open their own business. All materials that go into Aklala products are sustainably produced in West Africa.

March 29, 2015 - What a perfect bag for summer! The sleek profile and the rather unique handle design make this a nice fashion accessory. The lining is a little rustic but will work well enough. This will look great with a wide variety of casual outfits.
June 6, 2013 - I love this bag. Have gotten a few complements on it already. It's the perfect size and length to hold anything. a brush fits perfectly in it and doesn't look bulky. The fabric is a little stiffer than I thought it would be...not soft, but it just makes it more durable. The colors are exactly as shown in the photo :) follow up to first review: Now that I have carried it for a few weeks now, I still like it, but one of the wooden handles comes out every now and then. I think it's when I put too much stuff in the bag. It easily slips back into the fabric though. Just don't put a lot of heavy items in the bag. I had my camera in there a few times and I think that's what caused the handle to slip out. Wallet, brush and small, lightweight items are fine.
