Artisan: Made Sarna

Artisan Made Sarna Balinese artisan Made Sarna began painting in 1978. 'Nine years later, I met Bill Paradise, an American designer and businessman. He helped me develop techniques to color wood, and my skills in art made it easier to learn to carve. Eventually, I decided to open a shop of my own ñ a place to work and display my art. For most of my artwork, I enjoy combining traditional Indonesian cultural elements with modern design.' Made Sarna's masks have been featured in Time Magazine.
