Holding their hands in a Balinese welcoming gesture, two angels appear in heavenly artistry. They are carved from pule wood and adorned by Handaru Baskoro with rich detail. He decorates the angels with classic batik techniques using traditional Javanese motifs. One angel is decorated with the eight-pointed rosette or kawung and the other features the historic parang rusak ("knife" or "dagger"). This is the motif par excellence of Javanese batik, which used to be the exclusive property of the Surakarta and Jogyakarta courts. Made in Indonesia.
