This ornate patterned tote is made by women at Au Lac in Vietnam with pieces of amazing recycled embroidered fabric made in the H'mong hill tribes of south east Asia. Each generously sized tote is recycled from women's traditional tribal skirts. It has a top zipper closure, internal pocket, microfiber handles, and is fully lined with black cotton fabric.
Au Lac is a fair trade organization that was founded by a former Maryknoll volunteer to bring jobs to poor women living in Hanoi and the surrounding rural areas. The women are especially gifted in the traditional art of embroidery, and stitch beautifully detailed silk accessories and clothing.
